BREWERS BAY BEACH

at the University of the Virgin Islands

Brewers Bay, located on the campus of the University of the Virgin Islands , is one of the island's most popular beaches for families.  The strip of white coral sand is almost as long as the beach at Magens Bay.  This is a very nice beach but it isn't the place for snorkeling.  Vendors sell light meals and drinks on the roadside.  A taxi can be used to get there from anywhere on St. Thomas but if you want to save some money, take the dollar taxi buses.  They are large trucks with open air seating in the rear and run a route that ends at the UVI near Brewer's Beach on the West end of the island.  Just get on the side of the road closest to the water downtown or at Red Hook or if at Havensite walk over to the other side of the Yacht club and stand at one of the many "bus stops" that are cut into the sidewalks.  Just hold a hand up when you see one coming and load when they stop.  Pay when you are unloading, it is a dollar per person and tipping is always appreciated.

Because the beach is on the UVI campus, the rules are different than most other beaches in the Virgin islands.
